Then and Now

It's not going as quickly as I had hoped but is is slowly but steadily coming off.

  Then

Now
Not a huge difference but I can honestly say that it wasn't until I started exercising every day that I started to notice a change.

Update on Honey and Cinnamon

Did you or have you tried this?

I went out and bought the (expensive) raw honey and some good cinnamon. I was very excited because I know how good this is for you.

I just couldn't do it!

I knew that it would be hard not being able to drink it hot. (If you add the honey to a hot drink it destroys the enzymes) I steeped the cinnamon like I was suppose to then I let it cool down and added the honey. Hot this would be yummy but when I tried to drink it... well let's just say I couldn't. I wanted to so bad because of the health benefits. But I am a wimp sometimes when it come to drinking nasty stuff.

Love to hear if you tried it!

Honey and Cinnamon

I have some positive news today. Since I have been taking my Super Foods Plus (that I talked about in my last post) I have also gone to exercise five days a week. Between the two of them I have finally noticed that I have lot's more energy. Yay!

I still have not been the best about sneeking treats now and then but I'm getting the exercising thing down. I want to try and add one more healthy habit to my daily schedule now.

What is that?

Cinnamon and Honey

It is said that drinking this mixture will not allow fat to accumulate in the body. Now doesn't that sound fantastic.

Some people add the cinnamon and honey to a cup of boiling water. I read however that if you add the honey to hot water, it will destroy the enzymes in the honey.

Here is the recipe that I am going to try.

*Boil one cup water and add 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Let steep 30 minutes.
*Let the mixture cool completely and then add 2 teaspoons Raw Honey.
*Drink half the mixture on an empty stomach before going to bed.
*Refrigerate the other half and drink in the morning on an emtpy stomach about 30 minutes before breakfast.

I'm sure I would rather drink this hot, but I don't want to destroy those enzymes.

I would love to hear from you if you have tried this or what you think if you try it along with me.

Money Jar

“My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the heck she is.”
 Ellen DeGeneres

I don't know why but I have really struggled the last few months about exercising. I have a membership at a gym. Maybe it is going out in the freezing cold every morning. I was also doing very good about not drinking soda, but that didn't last.

Money Jar

This is what I am going to do. I am going to make a money jar. Every time I go exercise I am going to put a dollar in the jar. Each day I go without a soda I will put a dollar in the jar. So by the end of each month, if I have been good, I should be able to treat myself to a massage, pedi or something fun!

Getting Back on Track

I am going to get back on track, quit making excuses and get healthy.
If I don't, how do I ever plan on teaching dance again?
Sometimes we just have to make ourselves do things we don't want to.

I am going to do this. Watch me!

I have never done yoga but I think I am going to give it a try. Just got this message from BioTrust in an email today.

BioTrust Nutrition wrote: "Yoga is an all-encompassing option, especially when practiced properly. Not only is it a form of exercise, when you breath properly and get in tune with stressful areas of your body, you can effectively alleviate stress. As a matter of fact, sitting down in a quiet, dark room and just focusing on your breathing and relaxation is a great tactic.

Got Way Off Track

What happened?

I was so in the mind set and doing so well and then boom. I have been horrible. I was loosing weight and felt good, so I don't understand why I couldn't just keep going. I keep telling myself that I'm going to start again and keep going. Make it a healthy long time life style.

I saw this today and it made me laugh. This is so me!

Then what are the chances but I was reading an article in a magazine and it said that it is actually a good thing to start a diet or eating plan on a Monday LOL!  It said:

Begin on a Monday!

"Women who do shed more weight than those who start on another day of the week, according to a new research involving 2.000 dieters. The explanation: Synchronizing the start of a new diet with start of a new week amps up your motivation, ensuring you begin on the right foot!"

Well I don't know how true this is but I like it. Although I don't think they mean to start over every Monday like me.

I am going to do this. I am just hoping I didn't gain back everything I lost!

*Great tips I love - Steer clear of the sweet stuff in any form. high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, corn sugar, brown rice syrup, glucose, etc...

I Cheated!

I have to admit I cheated a little over Christmas. Okay, I cheated a lot. Time to get back to my morning protein shakes and start hitting the gym.

I have to give myself a GIANT pat on the back for not giving into an icy cold Coke or Pepsi. My biggest temptation and I stayed strong!

My top three things I will start with is

*Throwing out all the treats and junk food sitting out on the kitchen counter.
*Restocking the fridge and shelves with fruits, veggies and healthy snacks.
*Getting to bed earlier so that I can get up in the morning to exercise

My 50th Birthday is Jan.29th and I plan on feeling better and thinner. I will post a picture on the 29th in the same black striped shirt and jeans that I wore in the first picture. I will post it whether there is a change or not. Either way it should give me the incentive to work harder.

*Great Tips I Love
Instead of subtracting foods from your diet try adding healthy ones. If you add enough healthy ones you won't have room for the bad ones.

Cookies and Candies and Cakes OH MY!!!

I feel bad that I haven't posted on here for a little bit. My family is coming  on the 15th and we are doing an early Christmas celebration so I have been cleaning, baking and cleaning some more.

I have been making cookies non stop and today I made a cake. Tomorrow I will probably start on the caramel. It has been the toughest thing not to eat all these treats. I can't say that I haven't eaten any, but I have been so much better that I thought I would be.

How do you resist goodies when they are everywhere you turn?

It would be so easy for me to say that I will start eating better after the holidays but then I will be back to where I started when I began this healthy eating plan. I try to keep tea, or a glass of True Lemon around to sip on when I get the urge  to pop a cookie in my mouth. It seems to help. I think I need a big mirror in my kitchen. Now I know that would help. :)

*Great Tips I Love - If you eating out, make a salad with a low calorie dressing your appetizer. Most appetizers are fried, fattening and come with unhealthy dips or sauces.

I Added Coconut Oil

Today I had a raspberry coconut oil protein shake.
Very YUMMY!

*Fruit for lunch

*Veggie sandwich for dinner

No I didn't exercise today. So much going on I can't find the energy to go. I know if I do go that it will start giving me energy. I'm trying!!!

Finally A Protein Powder That Tastes Good

Second day on my BioTrust Protein Shakes and I'm still impressed.

Here was my 12:00 Blueberry Shake today
Vanilla Almond Milk, frozen blueberries and Vanilla BioTrust

I added blueberries ONE - because I love them and TWO - because
researchers at the Texas Women’s University in Denton claim blueberries fight fat cells.

Let me tell you, my fat cells are putting up a pretty good fight LOL!

THREE - Blueberries have one of the highest antioxidant content.

For a snack I had pecans. Drank my teas, water and for dinner I had an egg on a whole wheat English muffin and some fruit!

One thing that I confess is I have not been exercising good this week. Next week I will get my butt out of bed and go everyday. I have the mirror to report back to so I have got to do it.

Great Tips I Love:
Oats are your friends. It will keep you full longer!

Chocolate Banana Shake

Thursday Nov 29th

I wanted to share with you my 12:00 shake.

Three ingredients:

Banana
Vanilla Almond Milk
2 Scoops BioTrust
=
YUM!

I am not joking this was so good. It also was so filling I had to make myself drink the whole thing. I didn't even think about eating for hours.

Great Tips I Love:
Plan meals ahead of time to prevent over eating! You are less likely to make a last minute unhealthy food choice.
Wednesday Nov. 25th

It's here!
I received my Bio Trust Low Carb Blend. I have read up on so many protein shakes and they are filled with sugars, additives and high in carbs. Besides that they taste awful.

BioTrust Low Carb

Low-Carb Time-Released Protein Blend
  • 100% All-Natural, Hormone-Free
  • No Artificial Colors, Sweeteners or Flavors
  • Time-Released Four-Protein Blend
  • Only 4g of Net Carbs Per Serving!
  •
And may I add only 150 calories per serving!!!
I also got a cool little blender bottle to make my shakes in.

So I made my first chocolate shake today. Using vanilla almond milk is what I want to make the shakes with. Today I wanted to see how just the powder tasted so I just used water to get the full effect. :) Well... I was pleasantly surprised. If I would have added a frozen banana and some almond milk I would have thought I was having a desert.

My menu for the next couple of weeks will be.
    *12:00 Shake
    *Snack
    *3:00 Shake
    *Snack
*6:00 A healthy dinner consisting of lean meat and vegetables

*I will continue my tea, tru lemon, and lot's of water. My snacks with consist of either nuts, spicy hot V8, or a fruit. I will also continue to add coconut oil and chia seeds to my shakes or food.

So here I go, continuing a healthy eating plan but changing it up a bit with my Bio Trust!

    Almost Two Weeks

    Friday Nov 16th

Just two more days and I can say that I have been good for two weeks and not ONE soda pop. Yay me! Soda pop has been the hardest part of doing this so far. Well that and breads. But I do eat bread every now and then with a healthy sandwich. But giving up soda I have really relied on drinking teas and my True Lemon Mix packets to get me through.

    Breakfast - whole wheat cereal
Lunch - yogurt and a grapefruit
Dinner - *Healthy Choice Pasta meal
    Snack - banana and nuts

    *About the Healthy Choice Meal,
Smart One, or any low calorie frozen meal.

While the frozen meal was under 300 calories. I am not a big fan of frozen meals and all the additives. I do have some in the freezer for times I don't have time to make something and instead of cheating, I can quickly heat up one of these. I do believe in clean eating when I am trying to loose weight. I do like to have these around though.

    *Great Tips I love:
If you think your hungry, try a glass of water first. It may just be your thirsty!

    Great Quote

    Tuesday Nov 13th

I woke up this morning to this quote on my Facebook.

"Your mind is the most powerful tool you have to get your body to want to be thin..." - Jon Gabriel

This is so true and I tried to keep it in my mind all day. I think I will print it off and hang it up. For another incentive I am going to make a collage of several pictures of me when I was thinner and I am going to hang it on the fridge. You could also do this with pictures of any tone healthy bodies of others that would inspire you. If you make one please share it. I will share mine as soon as I get it done.

    *Great Tips I Love:
Don't eat straight out of the bag or container. Ever!

    When I Want To Cheat

    Monday Nov 12th

I don't know what it is about Mondays and eating healthy, but it's a good feeling. It's like "Yay I made it one more week" or if you didn't do as good as you planned, it's a new week and a fresh start.

    Breakfast - Banana
Lunch - Whole wheat English Muffin and two eggs
Dinner - Progresso light Chicken Noodle Soup with chia seeds. (Couldn't even tell they were in there)
Snack - pecans, sugar free snack size pudding
Of course lots of water and true lemon mix and a couple cups of herbal tea.

Just a few things that save me when I want to cheat

    *Nuts
    *Herbal Tea
    *Frozen Grapes
*Sugar free snack size chocolate pudding
*One of my favorites V8 Spicy Hot - Love it! Takes away the cravings

I keep these little single serving around and try to keep one in my purse so if I'm out and about I can have one.

    Exercise

    Saturday Nov 10th

Today I didn't go to exercise. Sometimes I think I need to take Saturdays off and give my mind and body a break. I know I have only worked out a few times this week, but it is absolutely taking a toll on me.

What do you think?  Do you exercise on the weekends?

One thing I am proud of is that I have not had a soda since Monday. I know for a lot of you that is nothing but that is very hard for me. I drank several everyday. It is kind of a mental thing. Especially at the end of a hard day a nice big pepsi or coke and it would make it all better. Now I try and tell myself that being thin and healthy again will make it all better.

What is your make it all better treat?

Happy to say that I have lost a few pounds this week. At this point I cannot see it to look in a mirror but I am hoping it will start showing in the next few weeks. I have my old pants just sitting in the drawer waiting to be worn. :)

    Step Class

    Thursday Nov 8th

To tell you how out of shape I am, I went to a step class today. Thought I was really going to die. It is devastating to me that I really can't keep up. Not to long ago I really had to push myself to even work up a sweat. After 15 minutes into the class I kept watching the clock the whole time. I am so hoping that in a couple of months I can tell you something positive about my workouts.

    Breakfast - Frozen Yogurt
Lunch - Bowl of chili (I added chia seeds, couldn't even tell they were in there)
Dinner - One egg on a whole wheat english muffin and herbal tea.
Snack - Almonds and a apple
    Drank lots of water

If your wondering if I drink tea cause I love it? Some I enjoy but there are some that I force down because I know they are so good for me.

Do you have a favorite tea?

    *Great Tips I Love:
Eat something small every three hours to keep your metabolism going strong.

    Breakfast? Yay or Nay

    Wednesday Nov 7th

Okay I have to admit that I never made it to exercise on Monday, it was planned but never happened. Tuesday I knew I couldn't go. But today, I MADE IT to zumba class. First let me tell you that as I looked at myself in the mirror I wanted to cry and you would have never guessed that I was a dance teacher because I didn't want to shake it and move to much because I couldn't stand to look at myself giggle around.

    Problem:

I have a problem of not planning my meals out. I didn't eat breakfast today because I knew that I was having a bigger lunch, I was going out with a friend. I know they say that breakfast is very important but I have never been a big breakfast eater and it never seemed to be a problem before the steroids and sudden weight gain. I think that if I needed breakfast my body would let me know. I do try to make myself eat it though.
What are your thoughts about breakfast?

    Breakfast -
    Lunch - Soup and Salad
Dinner - Salad with chia seeds
Snack - herbal tea with coconut oil
               apple
     Drank lots of water!

    *Great tips that I love:
Grapefruit is an awesome way to loose weight. Eat it plain, throw it in salads or in your cereal. Grapefruit has potent digestive enzymes that help break down fat. It also helps to remove fat from the digestive track.
So what are we waiting for... Let's go grab a grapefruit.
